Our History

Maxwell Fireplace was founded by Maxwell Newhouse in 1985. Originally located on Marine Drive in North Vancouver, the company sold and installed residential gas fireplaces to homeowners in North and West Vancouver.

In 1993 Maxwell Newhouse retired and sold the company to Noel Cormack, a young employee with a clear vision for the company’s future. In the years that followed, Noel maintained the company’s reputation for service and quality. He became well-respected in the hearth industry for his honesty and integrity, each of which fostered the company’s organic growth and maintained its values. A relocation to our current site on Pemberton Avenue in North Vancouver allowed for a larger showroom, which today, is the largest fireplace showroom in the lower mainland. New product lines were introduced, and the company cemented itself as the leader in its industry.

Today, Maxwell Fireplace is no longer the small company it once was, although our values, integrity, and commitment to our customers, business partners, and the community are still the driving force behind everything we do. In 2021 we launched a new and significant strategic plan that included the re-design of our workforce, the recruitment of additional team members, the design and implementation of operational excellence, the introduction of new product lines and categories, a brand re-fresh, and a new website. With a reach that is far wider than before, attracting homeowners and contractors throughout the greater Vancouver area, the North Shore and Sea to Sky Corridor, Maxwell Fireplace has re-established itself as a leader in the hearth industry. And, with our updated modernized showroom featuring sophisticated and unique gas, wood-burning, and electric fireplaces, Maxwell Fireplace is where creativity and beautiful fireplaces come together to create FireSpaces that suit every customer’s lifestyle.
