Valor Gas Fireplaces on the North Shore
Built in North Vancouver, shown in North Vancouver, and installed in the houses, cottages and condominiums of the North Shore by the people who will stand behind it.
North Vancouver · West Vancouver · Lower Lonsdale · Lynn Valley · Deep Cove · Dundarave
Valor is built in North Vancouver, and so, as it happens, is the showroom where we show it. If you live on the North Shore, the fire you are considering was made a short drive from your house, and you can come and see it burning before you decide.
The North Shore is a particular kind of place to put a fire. There are the view houses of West Vancouver and the mountainside, with long glass walls and a long wall of plaster or stone that wants a line of flame; the heritage cottages and mid-century houses of Lynn Valley and Lonsdale, with a small original hearth that no longer works; and the condominiums of Lower Lonsdale and Marine Drive, where the strata, the vent and the old fireplace opening decide everything. And it is a place where, on a winter night, the power does sometimes go out. A Valor’s radiant models keep warming the room through a cut, which is a good deal of why people here choose them.
The fireplace is ours from the first conversation to the final flame: the choosing, the measuring, the vent run, the framing, the permit and the installation, with the care that comes after. When the work runs to a surround, a mantel, tile or millwork, we plan it with the trades doing it — yours, or ones we bring in.

The Valor lineup, for North Shore rooms
Every Valor we carry, and what each is good for here. Each has its own page, with the sizes and the fronts.
The Valor L Series
For the view house with a long wall of plaster or stone: a line of fire, radiant and fanless, with HeatShift™ so the television above stays cool.
The Valor LX2
For the open plan, the pier or the corner: the L Series fire glazed on three sides or wrapped around a corner.
The Valor H Series
Four sizes of radiant fire that keeps warming through a winter storm, from the compact H3 to the large-format H6.
The Valor H3
The slim retrofit for a North Shore condominium: direct-vent, B-Vent ready, and installed entirely in-house.
The Valor Horizon
For the wide, quiet fire: a generous window of flame with five fronts to choose from, in a new wall or an old opening.
Valor Portrait & P2
Tall, narrow and made for the heritage cottage and its small original hearth: the Portrait, and its next-generation sibling, the P2.
The Valor G3, G3.5 & G4
For the masonry fireplace you already have: three gas inserts that turn a draughty chimney into a sealed, efficient heater.
The Valor Madrona
For the room with no chimney: a cast iron gas stove in the Scandinavian manner, in a traditional or a modern casting.
The Valor President
For the cottage or the small room: the classic cast iron gas stove, thirteen inches deep, venting through the top or the rear.
Questions people tend to ask
Where can I see a Valor fireplace on the North Shore?
In our showroom at 1380 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver, open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm. Valor itself is built in North Vancouver, by Miles Industries, so the fire is made close to where you will see it.
Do you install Valor fireplaces in West Vancouver as well as North Vancouver?
Yes. We install across the North Shore, and in Vancouver, Burnaby and up the Sea to Sky Corridor to Whistler. The measuring, the permit and the installation are ours.
Are gas fireplaces allowed on the North Shore?
Yes. The gas restrictions the City of Vancouver repealed in 2026 were City of Vancouver bylaws, and North Vancouver and West Vancouver were never subject to them. Gas fireplaces have not been banned in either. Each municipality has its own building and permit process, and we check what applies to your address before anything is ordered. See The End of Vancouver’s Gas Restrictions for the background.
Which Valor suits a North Shore condominium?
The H3 was drawn for the strata retrofit. Its slim direct-vent engine slides into the space left by an old fireplace, and a B-Vent Adapter often lets us connect to the building’s existing 5″ B-Vent pipe. We handle the strata correspondence, the permit and the installation.
Can I put a Valor into the old fireplace in my heritage house?
Often, yes. The G3, G3.5 and G4 are gas inserts for an existing fireplace, and the Portrait and P2 go in as an insert or are built in fresh to wood framing. We look at the chimney and the opening first and tell you what will fit.
Will it work when the power goes out?
The radiant models, yes. They use no fan and ask nothing of a wall socket, and the ignition runs on batteries, so the fire lights and keeps warming the room through a winter storm.
How much does it cost?
It depends less on the fire than on everything around it: the model, the vent run, the framing, the permit and the installation. We do not publish a price list. Visit the showroom with photographs or plans and we will go through the options and the pricing with you there.
A fireplace is only half of it. The other half is who places it.
Maxwell Fireplace is North Vancouver’s Creative FireSpaces™ — and we stay involved in every part of the job. The fireplace itself is ours from the first conversation to the final flame: design and placement, permitting, delivery, installation, and the care that comes after. When the work runs to a surround, a mantel, tile or millwork, we plan it with the trades doing it — yours, or ones we bring in — so the fire and the wall are drawn as one thing rather than two. One point of contact, and nothing lost in the gap between trades.
It’s exactly why a Valor belongs with us. Radiant heat has to be aimed at where people actually sit, and in a house on the mountainside or a strata building the vent route and the approvals decide what is possible long before the finish does. We serve homeowners and contractors across Greater Vancouver, the North Shore, and the Sea to Sky Corridor — Squamish to Whistler and Pemberton — and we’d love to show you what’s possible for your room.
