Valor Gas Fireplaces in Vancouver
The radiant fire that keeps burning when the power goes out, chosen, installed and looked after by Maxwell Fireplace in North Vancouver.
Vancouver · The North Shore · Whistler
Valor is built in North Vancouver, by Miles Industries, a half-century-old Canadian company, and it is a fire with a distinct point of view. Where most gas fireplaces lean on a fan to push warm air around a room, a Valor radiates: the heat leaves the glass the way it leaves a south-facing window, as a steady wave you feel on your skin rather than hear in the wall. Because that asks nothing of a fan or a wall socket, the radiant models keep warming the room straight through a power cut, and the ignition runs on batteries. On a Vancouver winter night, that is not a small thing.
Maxwell Fireplace is a Valor dealer in North Vancouver. We show the fires in our showroom, help you choose the model, the fuel bed, the liner and the front, and then place and install it ourselves: the measuring, the vent run, the framing, the permit, the installation and the care that comes after. When the work runs to a surround, a mantel, tile or millwork, we plan it with the trades doing it — yours, or ones we bring in.
Below is every Valor we carry, from linear fires to cast iron stoves, arranged by the kind of room it suits. If you are not sure which one is yours, start with the showroom, bring a photograph, and we will tell you which one the wall can hold.

Every Valor we carry
Each has its own page, with the sizes, the fronts and the fuel beds.
For the long wall — linear
Frameless, edge-to-edge fire for the modern room.
The Valor L Series
Three widths of low linear fire and two taller Landscape versions: radiant, fanless, still warming the room when the power goes out, with HeatShift™ so the television above stays cool.
The Valor LX2
The L Series fire glazed on three sides or wrapped around a corner, for the pier, the peninsula and the open plan that was never laid out around a hearth.
Radiant fireplaces — built in
Fanless warmth, from the condo retrofit to the large-format centrepiece.
The Valor H Series
Four sizes, one radiant idea: fanless warmth that keeps heating when the power goes out, from the compact H3 to the large-format H6.
The Valor H3
Built for the condo retrofit: slim direct-vent, B-Vent ready, and installed entirely in-house.
The Valor Horizon
A wide, quiet window of fire with the V-Class burner: five fronts, three log sets, and a place in a new wall or an old opening.
Valor Portrait & P2
Tall, narrow and built for almost any wall: the Portrait and its next-generation P2, radiant gas heaters with a face for every room, modern or heritage.
For the fireplace you have — inserts
Turn a tired masonry or factory fireplace into a sealed, efficient heater.
For the room without a chimney — gas stoves
Cast iron, freestanding and direct-vent: fire that needs only a floor.
Where we install Valor
In Vancouver
The city asks for a good deal of the fireplace: a condo tower whose chimney was sealed decades ago, a Craftsman with a small original hearth, a glass-walled new build whose long wall wants a line of fire. The H3 was drawn for the strata retrofit, the Portrait and its next-generation P2 for the narrow or heritage wall, and the L Series for the long, quiet wall of the modern house. We handle the strata correspondence, the permit and the installation, and we confirm the vent route before anything is ordered. Natural gas fireplaces have always been permitted in the City of Vancouver; we explain the history in The End of Vancouver’s Gas Restrictions.
On the North Shore
The showroom is on the North Shore, and so is the factory that builds the fire. From Lower Lonsdale to Deep Cove and across to West Vancouver, we plan and install Valor fireplaces in view homes, heritage cottages and mountainside houses where the power does go out in winter. In Whistler
Many of the people who visit our showroom have a second home in Whistler. A gas fire that lights from a remote and keeps warming through a storm suits a house that is empty between visits, and we are in Whistler regularly. Valor fireplaces for Whistler homes →
Questions people tend to ask
Where can I buy a Valor gas fireplace in Vancouver?
At Maxwell Fireplace, in our showroom at 1380 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver, open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm. You can see Valor fires burning, choose the model, fuel bed, liner and front, and talk through the pricing with us there. We sell, install and look after the fireplaces we show.
Which Valor is right for my home?
It depends on the wall. For a long, modern wall, the L Series; for a pier, peninsula or corner, the LX2; for a condo or strata retrofit, the H3; for a narrow or heritage wall, the Portrait or its next-generation P2; for an everyday radiant fire or a large-format centrepiece, the H Series; for a wide, quiet fire in a new wall or an old opening, the Horizon; for an old masonry fireplace, one of the G3, G3.5 and G4 inserts; and for a room with no chimney, the Madrona or the President gas stove. Bring a photograph and we will tell you which one the room can hold.
Where is Valor made?
Every Valor is built in North Vancouver, BC, by Miles Industries, a half-century-old Canadian company, and backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
Will a Valor work in a power outage?
The radiant models, yes. They use no fan and ask nothing of a wall socket, and the ignition runs on batteries, so the fire lights and keeps warming the room when the power is out. Valor calls it No Power, No Problem.
Do you install Valor fireplaces on the North Shore and in Whistler?
Yes. We install across Vancouver, the North Shore and the Sea to Sky Corridor, from Squamish to Whistler and Pemberton. See Valor fireplaces on the North Shore and Valor fireplaces for Whistler homes.
Are gas fireplaces allowed in Vancouver?
Yes. Natural gas fireplaces have always been permitted in the City of Vancouver, including through the years of its gas restrictions, which targeted space and water heating rather than fireplaces. Policy is still in motion, so we check what applies to your address before anything is ordered.
How much does a Valor gas fireplace cost?
It depends less on the fire than on everything around it: the model, the fuel bed and front, the vent run, the framing, the permit and the installation. Two homes with the same Valor can arrive at quite different figures, so we do not publish a price list. Visit the showroom with photographs or plans and we will go through the options and the pricing with you there.
Who handles the permit and the strata?
We do. From the site assessment and the strata correspondence through the permit, installation and final commissioning, the fireplace work is ours: one team, one point of contact.
A fireplace is only half of it. The other half is who places it.
Maxwell Fireplace is North Vancouver’s Creative FireSpaces™ — and we stay involved in every part of the job. The fireplace itself is ours from the first conversation to the final flame: design and placement, permitting, delivery, installation, and the care that comes after. When the work runs to a surround, a mantel, tile or millwork, we plan it with the trades doing it — yours, or ones we bring in — so the fire and the wall are drawn as one thing rather than two. One point of contact, and nothing lost in the gap between trades.
It’s exactly why a Valor belongs with us. Radiant heat has to be aimed at where people actually sit, and the vent route and the approvals decide what is possible long before the finish does. We serve homeowners and contractors across Greater Vancouver, the North Shore, and the Sea to Sky Corridor — Squamish to Whistler and Pemberton — and we’d love to show you what’s possible for your room.
