An old wood-burning fireplace is usually two problems wearing one face: a firebox that hasn't drawn properly in years, and a tired brick wall nobody quite knows what to do with. The Regency® Atmosphere LE inserts answer both at once — a clean, efficient gas fire dropped into the old opening, and a wall you're free to rebuild from the studs out.

At the heart of every LE is Regency's new Infusion Burner — a patent-pending design that draws the flame forward across an artisan-crafted, high-definition log set and opens up one of the largest viewing areas in its class. The fire reads less like a gas appliance and more like the wood fire the room used to have, only cleaner, quieter, and lit at the press of a button.

Dress it to suit the room: choose an Oak, Driftwood, or Birch log set, set it against a Herringbone Brick, warm brown, or Volcanic Black interior, and finish the face in anything from black to brushed nickel, sunset bronze, or antique copper. Regency counts some 450 combinations — which is another way of saying the fire ends up looking like your home, not the showroom.

Here is the part most people don't realise they're allowed to do. With the LE, the old masonry brick facing can come off and be rebuilt in steel studs and cement board — a non-combustible frame you can then finish in tile, natural stone, marble, or plaster, carried right up to the fire. The fireplace stops being a fixed brick box and becomes whatever the room asks for: a full-height chevron-tile chimney breast, a quiet limestone surround, a flush modern plane.

Done properly, the gap between the original firebox and the new face is sealed so heat stays where it belongs, and only non-combustible finishes ever meet the fire. It is exactly the kind of work we like — equal parts fireplace and renovation — and it is the moment where placing a fireplace becomes designing a wall. Behind the picture, the LE is a proper heater. A variable-speed blower is standard on every size, moving warmth out into the room instead of letting it stack against the ceiling — and because it's variable, you tune it from a whisper to a working furnace. Electronic ignition with the Proflame 2 remote lets you set a temperature and walk away; the Invisimesh safety screen keeps the glass safe to be near; and on the medium and large sizes, ember-bed lighting holds a soft glow even with the flame turned off. Every LE is direct-vent, drawing its air from outside rather than from the room.

The Atmosphere LE comes in three sizes, all running the same Infusion Burner and the same blower. The Gi25LE is the extra-small — a flush, modern fire up to 20,500 BTU, made for smaller openings and tighter walls. The Gi29LE is the everyday medium, up to 31,500 BTU, sized for the masonry openings most homes already have. And the Gi33LE is the large-format fire — up to 38,500 BTU and roughly sixty-four percent efficient — built to fill a big old firebox with flame and a whole room with heat.
